We have modified the smallest Nespresso machine so that it works independently without shore power on our 230V inverter / continuous current socket in the Marco Polo kitchen unit.

The power consumption has been significantly reduced. The machine now has a power consumption of 3.2 A at 230V (approx. 720 watts) during the heating process.

The Nespresso capsule machine from Krups now takes approx. 30 seconds longer to heat up than usual, which is acceptable on a Marco Polo holiday. Certain compromises have to be accepted when camping.

The modification extends the heating phase slightly. The coffee in the capsule is brewed at a continuous temperature of between 52°C and 62°C. The flavour of the capsule coffee is as usual without modification. The temperature of the coffee is between 52° and 62°C.

For people who like their coffee very hot, the coffee temperature may be a little too low. We have enjoyed the coffee from the modified Nespresso for 2 years on every journey in the Marco Polo.

The perfect capsule coffee in the Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo or other campers / motorhomes with small inverters / voltage converters.

For campers who prefer to make their coffee the classic way with gas, we also have the Bialetti espresso / coffee maker on offer.

Note on handling

Due to the modification, the machine does not switch on at the first start and flashes quickly. The machine performs a self-test and determines that the temperature is not correct.
For this reason, please pull the mains plug or switch off the inverter during cold starts after the machine starts flashing quickly. The machine switches on at the second start.

This procedure only needs to be carried out if the machine is cold or has not been switched on for several hours.

Note on self-sufficient power supply

Please ensure that you use an inverter that supplies a pure sine wave and can supply at least 750 watts for a short time. We recommend using the Votronic SMI600 or SMI1200.
