This 250-watt solar power system, including installation, charges your Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo's leisure battery while parked whenever sufficient sunlight is available. Its two solar panels rated at 125 Wp each help power your fridge and 12 V or USB devices, reducing your reliance on an electric hook-up.
Fits your pop-top roof, including vehicles with MBUX and MBAC
The system is designed for the Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo, Horizon and Activity W447, and Viano Marco Polo W639 from model year 2004 onwards. It is suitable for manual and electric pop-top roofs, with or without a sunroof.
Vehicles from 2020 onwards with MBUX and MBAC can also be equipped. The solar system operates independently of MBAC. Your usual battery information remains available there, while solar data is accessed separately through the charge controller's app.
Low-profile roof installation that stays discreet
The panels are bonded directly to the pop-top roof, with the joints sealed after the adhesive has dried. The technical specifications list each panel as 4.3 mm thick and 3.65 kg in weight. This low-profile installation is barely noticeable from outside the vehicle.
The system is suitable for automatic car washes. Roof racks, including those from Thule or Westfalia, can still be fitted. When entering garages or multi-storey and underground car parks, the actual overall vehicle height, including roof accessories, remains the deciding factor. According to the product information, the system produces no additional wind noise at speeds of up to 200 km/h.
Two holes are made in the pop-top roof to route the cables into the vehicle. The cables remain visible around the bed and are routed flexibly so that they do not interfere with sleeping or lowering the roof.
Solar charging gives your leisure battery priority
The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 adjusts the panels' operating point to suit the conditions, helping make use of the available solar power. Battery charging follows a three-stage process.
The system charges the leisure battery first. Once it reaches a sufficient voltage, the starter battery and buffer battery, where fitted, also receive supplementary charging at 3 A. The included StandBy-Charger provides their automatic top-up and maintenance charging.
The system is designed to support fridge operation at setting 2 or 3 and charging various devices through the 12 V and USB sockets. How long you can stay without an electric hook-up depends on sunlight, season, shading, energy use and battery capacity. A roof box, surfboard or SUP board can shade the panels and reduce output. A full battery charge every day therefore cannot be assured in every situation.
Check charging data without fitting another display
The Bluetooth app for Apple and Android lets you view and log voltage, current and charging data, as well as adjust settings. There is no need to dedicate interior space to a separate solar monitor.
Add battery storage and charging on the move if required
If you would like to expand your electrical system, an optional lithium battery can add storage capacity, while a DC-DC battery charger supports charging while driving. Neither upgrade is included in the solar package described here.
Complete workshop installation, with drying time allowed for
This solar system is supplied exclusively with installation in our workshop. The package includes the panels, charge controller, StandBy-Charger, wiring and required fitting materials.
Your vehicle stays in our workshop for three working days to allow the adhesive, silicone and sealed joints to dry. Please bring your Marco Polo freshly washed and fully dry, so the roof only needs degreasing before installation.

Wiring and installation
This solar system, developed by us for your Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo, is supplied and installed with all required, configured power cables, cable holders, fitting materials (cable ties, adhesive, silicone), fuses, solar panels and charge controller. You do not need to bring anything apart from your freshly washed Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo.
What is included in the 250-watt solar system?
