The Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo has a regulated alternator, which ensures that the vehicle's batteries are charged poorly or not at all while driving. By installing the charge booster / charge controller, we prevent the alternator from switching off and ensure that the starter battery and the body battery of the Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo are charged with up to 50A.

The charge booster is mounted under the driver's seat of the Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo and is not visible. The original battery cut-off relay is therefore superfluous.

Recommendation

Low temperature cut-out & undervoltage protection

To prevent damage to lithium batteries, the charger automatically switches off at low temperatures and when the input voltage falls below a user-configurable cut-off value, thus protecting the starter battery from deep discharge.

The Orion XS is dust and water resistant and has an IP65 protection rating.

Explanations

Combine any alternator safely with any battery

When the engine is switched off, the Orion XS isolates the service battery so that no current is drawn from the starter battery.

With the engine switch-off detection, the charger only starts when the engine is running.

Protect the alternator

Intelligent alternators (as found in Euro 5/6 engines) do not continuously supply a sufficiently high voltage. The Orion XS increases this voltage to the perfect charging level.

Regardless of the variable input voltage, whether lower or higher, the charger maintains the selected charging algorithm for perfect battery charging. Thanks to the adjustable output current, the correct charging current can be selected for each consumer battery.
