The DanHag 4G (LTE) app control module lets you operate your existing auxiliary air heater by app, SMS or phone call. You can start the heater before returning to your vehicle rather than waiting until you are back inside.

Choose the right control module for your W447 air heater

The module is intended for the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, Marco Polo, Horizon and Activity in the W447 range from model year 2014 with an existing auxiliary air heater beneath the driver's seat. Compatibility depends on the heater and its controls. The installation described for the Marco Polo connects to the central control unit beneath the kitchen unit. Horizon and Activity models require the version with a heater timer in the centre console.

A coolant-based auxiliary heater is not the air heater covered here. The vehicle model and year alone are therefore not enough to establish compatibility. Instructions for connecting a coolant heater to the climate control unit do not apply to this air-heater installation.

Plan heating times and decide who has access

  • 5 authorised phone numbers: configure by SMS which numbers may control the heater.
  • 24-hour timer function: plan when to use the heating.
  • Temperature query: request a temperature reading; an external temperature sensor is optional.
  • External push-button connection: add a local control alongside remote operation.

On the version for Horizon and Activity models with a heater timer, output 2 supports configurable switch-on and switch-off delays. Output 3 has a separate switch-off delay. The maximum heating run time on these vehicles remains determined by the heater or vehicle. A longer setting on the control module does not override that limit.

SMS-based app control with 4G support

A separate nano-SIM card is required for operation. The module supports 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS) and 4G (LTE) and has an internal antenna. Remote operation requires mobile reception and the relevant SMS or calling functions.

The app sends an SMS for each switching command. Check that your mobile plan supports SMS and take its terms into account. When operating the heater by phone call, the module checks the caller's transmitted number without establishing a voice connection. Install the module where it will remain accessible, for example when changing the SIM card.

Marco Polo: connect beneath the kitchen unit

On the Marco Polo with a central control panel, the switching output connects directly to the central control unit beneath the kitchen unit. Power can be taken from fuse block A. The app control module must be protected by a fuse rated at no more than 5 A.

Connect the yellow switching output to yellow wire B at the central control unit. There are two yellow wires in the loom: the heater control wire is identified by the marking 12. Configure the module's output signal to +12V.

Horizon and Activity: connect using the Y-cable

On Horizon and Activity models with an auxiliary air heater and a heater timer in the centre console, connection is made using the supplied Y-cable. Unplug the original 12-pin connector from the timer. Insert the Y-cable between the timer and the original connector, then connect its 14-pin plug to the app control module.

This installation uses the timer's existing connector. It does not use the wiring connection beneath the kitchen unit described for the Marco Polo.

Request the vehicle's position by SMS with optional GPS

GPS positioning requires the optional external GPS receiver. A position request by SMS returns the current vehicle coordinates and a Google Maps link for viewing the location. With the ignition on, the position is determined every second. With the ignition off, the GPS receiver is activated only while a position request is being processed.

Receive notifications from an existing alarm system

An existing alarm system can be connected to the alarm input. Its output must provide a +12V signal when an alarm is triggered. When this signal is received, the app control module notifies you by phone call and SMS. The input complements an existing alarm system; it does not replace one.

Select the contents and connection to suit your vehicle

The supplied items comprise the DanHag app control module, a connection cable and operating instructions. A universal connection cable is specified for the Marco Polo; Horizon and Activity installations use the supplied Y-cable. The 4G version has an internal antenna. The GPS receiver is included only when the GPS option is selected. An external temperature sensor is optional.

Before selecting the module, match your vehicle's heater type, controls and connection method. Also allow for the separate nano-SIM card, and select the GPS option only if you want to use position queries.

What does the DanHag module do?

The DanHag module adds app, SMS and phone-call remote control to an existing auxiliary air heater. It is a control module, not a heater. Its functions also include a 24-hour timer, temperature query, an external push-button connection and an alarm input.

Which vehicles and heaters is it intended for?

The product is intended for Mercedes-Benz V-Class, Marco Polo, Horizon and Activity vehicles in the W447 range from 2014 with an existing auxiliary air heater beneath the driver's seat. The Marco Polo installation described requires the central control panel; Horizon and Activity installations require the heater timer in the centre console. Model and year alone do not establish compatibility. Coolant-based auxiliary heaters are not the application described here.

How is the module connected in the Marco Polo?

It connects to the central control unit beneath the kitchen unit. The yellow switching output connects to the yellow wire marked 12. Configure the output signal to +12V. Power can be taken from the fuse block; the app control module must be protected by a fuse rated at no more than 5 A.

How is it installed in Horizon and Activity models?

On vehicles with the appropriate heater timer, insert the supplied Y-cable between the timer and its original 12-pin connector. Connect the Y-cable's 14-pin plug to the app control module. This is a different connection method from the central control unit installation in the Marco Polo.

What SIM card and mobile network technology are required?

A separate nano-SIM card is required. The module supports 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS) and 4G (LTE) and has an internal antenna. The app sends switching commands by SMS. Mobile reception and the relevant SMS or calling functions are required. Your mobile plan's terms apply.

Who can control the heater remotely?

Control is restricted to 5 authorised phone numbers, which you configure by SMS. The heater can be operated by app, SMS or phone call. For call-based control, the module checks the transmitted caller number without establishing a voice connection.

How do the timer and switching delays work?

The module has a 24-hour timer function for scheduling. On the heater-timer version for Horizon and Activity models, output 2 supports adjustable switch-on and switch-off delays, while output 3 has a separate switch-off delay. These settings do not extend the maximum heating run time imposed by the heater or vehicle.

What temperature functions does the module provide?

The functions include a temperature query. An external temperature sensor is optional. The stated temperature range of the control module is -30°C to 80°C.

How can GPS positioning be used?

Select the version with the optional external GPS receiver. An SMS position request returns the current coordinates and a Google Maps link. With the ignition on, the position is determined every second. With the ignition off, the receiver is activated only while processing a position request.

What type of alarm system can be connected?

An existing alarm system can connect its output to the module's alarm input if it supplies a +12V signal when triggered. On receiving this signal, the app control module notifies you by phone call and SMS. The module does not replace an alarm system.

What is included and what else is required?

The supplied items are the DanHag app control module, a connection cable and operating instructions. A universal connection cable is specified for the Marco Polo; Horizon and Activity installations use the supplied Y-cable. The antenna is internal. The GPS receiver is included only with the selected GPS option. An external temperature sensor is optional. A separate nano-SIM card is required for operation.
