Item no. 36365
The VB-FullAir 4C full air suspension compensates for changing loads and automatically levels your Mercedes-Benz when parked at a campsite. You benefit from a consistent driving height on the road and a level vehicle when camping, rather than a sagging rear end or a sloping bed.
Designed for your W447, with a clear AIRMATIC exclusion
This suspension is intended for Mercedes-Benz V-Class, Vito, Marco Polo, Marco Polo Horizon and Marco Polo Activity W447 vehicles built from 2014 onwards. It supports both rear-wheel drive and 4MATIC vehicles.
Not compatible with Mopf1 or Mopf2 facelift vehicles fitted with factory AIRMATIC. For these vehicles, 1sternehotel offers a separate module for manual, app-based ride-height adjustment.
Maintain the intended height as your load changes
The standard front and rear suspension is replaced by an electronically controlled full air suspension system. Sensors monitor the vehicle's ride height, while the VB-ASCU electronic control unit automatically checks and corrects it. The levelling system therefore accounts for additional loads such as a kitchen, rear pull-out storage, camping equipment or full water tanks.
A CAN bus interface connects the suspension to the vehicle electronics and supplies data, including vehicle speed, for its functions. The control system is compatible with the electronics and ESC system of the Vito and V-Class. Different software versions allow adaptation to the vehicle's intended use, and support can also be provided over the internet.
Level your parked vehicle at the touch of a button
Autolevel automatically levels the stationary vehicle both front to rear and side to side. Within the system's adjustment range, this can remove the need for levelling ramps. It benefits both the bed in the pop-up roof and the lower bed in the Marco Polo.
Choose between two ride-height versions
The suspension comes in Standard and +30 mm versions. In its normal position, the Standard version corresponds to the height of an unladen V-Class. The normal position of the +30 mm version is 30 mm higher.
The figures below are distances from the centre of the wheel hub to the lower edge of the wheel arch. They are not the vehicle's overall height.
Standard version:
| Mode | Front, cm | Rear, cm |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 42 | 42.5 |
| Sport | 40 | 40.5 |
| Offroad | 45 | 45.5 |
+30 mm version:
| Mode | Front, cm | Rear, cm |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 45 | 45.5 |
| Sport | 42 | 42.5 |
| Offroad | 48 | 48.5 |
Normal is the regular driving height. Sport provides a lower vehicle position, for example for motorway driving. Offroad raises the vehicle above its respective normal position and can be used up to 30 km/h. Above this speed, the suspension automatically returns to its normal position.
Make low entrances, ramps and tank draining easier to manage
Three additional settings support manoeuvring at no more than 5 km/h:
- Low-clearance mode: lowers the vehicle for low entrances and makes loading and unloading easier. Above 5 km/h, the system restores the normal driving height.
- Maximum, programmable level 1: set by 1sternehotel to the maximum height. This is higher than Offroad mode and can help when boarding ferries, for example.
- Drain, programmable level 2: raises the front and lowers the rear to help drain the water tank.
Installation and key system components are included
The package includes the suspension in your chosen version, installation, German general operating permit (ABE), Autolevel, emergency inflation valves under the bonnet and the CAN bus interface. The emergency valves allow the air suspension to be inflated from the engine compartment when needed. The spare wheel remains underneath the vehicle.
After installation, wheel alignment is carried out at a Mercedes-Benz workshop to check and adjust the suspension geometry. Wheel alignment, additional individual approvals, gross vehicle weight uprating and speedometer testing are outside the included scope. Individual approvals for other wheels or tyres and weight uprating can be carried out separately; these require an additional speedometer test.
Plan overall height and any weight uprating around your vehicle
Whether your Marco Polo remains below 2 m overall height must be checked on the actual vehicle, including with the +30 mm version. Wheel and tyre dimensions, tread depth and the selected ride height affect the result. Before entering a low car park, use the measured vehicle height rather than relying solely on the figure in the vehicle documents.
Suitable off-road/AT wheel and tyre sets can add up to a further 2.6 cm of vehicle height, depending on the combination. Together with a suitable Delta 4x4 off-road/AT wheel and tyre set, uprating to a gross vehicle weight of 3,450 kg is possible, subject to the vehicle's suitability. This is a separate modification, not an automatic part of the suspension installation.
Before choosing a version, measure the current distance from the wheel hub centre to the lower wheel arch edge at both axles. Comparing these measurements with the reference figures shows how your intended ride height differs from the vehicle's current position.
Which vehicles is the VB-FullAir 4C intended for?
It is intended for Mercedes-Benz V-Class, Vito, Marco Polo, Marco Polo Horizon and Marco Polo Activity W447 vehicles built from 2014 onwards, with rear-wheel drive or 4MATIC. Mopf1 and Mopf2 vehicles with factory AIRMATIC are not compatible. No compatibility is specified here for the Viano Marco Polo W639.
What is included in the package?
The package includes the suspension in the chosen Standard or +30 mm version, installation, German general operating permit (ABE), Autolevel, emergency inflation valves under the bonnet and a CAN bus interface for vehicle integration. The spare wheel remains underneath the vehicle.
How does the suspension respond to additional load?
Sensors and the VB-ASCU electronic control unit monitor the ride height. When the load changes, the system automatically adjusts the air suspension to restore the defined vehicle height. Ride-height control alone does not increase the permitted gross vehicle weight.
How does Autolevel work when camping?
At the touch of a button, Autolevel levels the stationary vehicle front to rear and side to side. Within its adjustment range, this can remove the need for levelling ramps. Both the upper and lower beds in the Marco Polo benefit from the vehicle being level.
What is the difference between Standard and +30 mm?
In the normal position, the distance from the wheel hub centre to the lower wheel arch edge is 42 cm at the front and 42.5 cm at the rear for the Standard version. The +30 mm version measures 45 cm at the front and 45.5 cm at the rear. These figures describe the suspension position, not the vehicle's overall height.
Which driving modes are provided, and what speed limits apply?
The driving modes are Normal, Sport and Offroad. Sport uses a lower ride height, while Offroad raises the vehicle above its respective normal position. Offroad mode can be used up to 30 km/h. Above this speed, the suspension automatically returns to normal height.
What are the Low-clearance, Maximum and Drain settings for?
These settings can be used up to 5 km/h. Low-clearance lowers the vehicle and returns to normal height above 5 km/h. Maximum is programmed as level 1, higher than Offroad, for situations such as ferry ramps. Drain uses level 2 with the front raised and the rear lowered to help empty the water tank.
How tall will the Marco Polo be after installation?
There is no single overall height for all vehicles. Wheel and tyre dimensions, tread depth and the selected ride height affect the result. Whether the vehicle remains below 2 m must be measured individually, including with the +30 mm version. Hub-to-wheel-arch measurements do not replace an overall height measurement.
Which additional work is not included?
The wheel alignment carried out at a Mercedes-Benz workshop after installation is outside the included scope. Additional individual approvals, weight uprating and speedometer tests are also not included. Additional approvals for wheels, tyres or weight uprating require a speedometer test.
How can the gross vehicle weight be increased to 3,450 kg?
Uprating to 3,450 kg is possible in combination with a suitable Delta 4x4 off-road/AT wheel and tyre set, subject to the vehicle's suitability. It is a separate modification requiring the relevant approvals and is not automatically included in the suspension installation.
