We need your vehicle for 2.5 days for the installation.

The 125 Wp solar system with installation included charges your leisure battery using sunlight, reducing your reliance on mains hook-ups when camping. This fully fitted system is designed for the Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo, Horizon and Activity in the W447 range, plus the Viano Marco Polo W639 from model year 2004 onwards.

Use solar energy for your fridge and mobile devices

The stated maximum daily yield in summer is 500 Wh. Solar charging helps supply the fridge and devices connected to the vehicle's existing 12 V and USB sockets. How long you can stay without a mains hook-up depends on sunlight, shade, orientation and your actual power consumption. Continuous off-grid operation therefore cannot be assumed in every situation.

The vehicle must be outdoors to generate solar power. Raising the roof can improve the angle of the panel when it is suitably positioned towards the sun.

Charge the leisure battery first, then support the other batteries

The Bluetooth MPPT solar charge controller uses the available panel output to charge the battery and operates with three-stage charging. Its rated charging current is 15 A; the current actually produced depends on the solar power available.

The leisure battery takes priority. Once it reaches a sufficient voltage, the additional StandBy-Charger provides supplementary charging and charge maintenance for the starter and buffer batteries at 3 A.

Keep the roof installation discreet without increasing vehicle height

The solar panel is bonded directly to the pop-top roof and the edges are sealed afterwards. At 4 mm including adhesive and silicone, the installation is very slim and does not change the overall vehicle height. The system is barely visible from ground level. Car washes, garages and underground car parks remain usable; the applicable vehicle requirements and height limits still need to be observed.

  • Suitable for electrically operated and manual pop-top roofs, with or without a sliding sunroof.
  • Roof racks, including those from Thule or Westfalia, can still be fitted.
  • The cable passes through one drilled hole in the pop-top roof. It is routed flexibly through the moving roof section and enters the cabin along the existing Westfalia LED wiring route.
  • The system produces no additional wind noise, even when driving at speeds up to 200 km/h.

Check charging on your smartphone without adding a display

The Bluetooth app for Apple and Android lets you view voltage, current and charging information, check recorded values and adjust the solar charge controller settings. There is no need for a separate solar display inside the vehicle.

Vehicles from model year 2020 onwards with Mercedes-Benz MBUX and MBAC are also supported. The solar system works independently of MBAC. Solar information is shown in the controller app, while MBAC continues to show the vehicle's usual voltage and charge status information for the starter and leisure batteries.

Add storage capacity and driving-time charging to suit your setup

A suitably selected lithium battery can increase usable storage capacity. A DC-DC charger supplements battery charging while driving. Both are optional and must match the particular vehicle and battery configuration. The 250-watt solar system for the Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo is another system option.

Prepare your vehicle for workshop installation

This system is supplied exclusively with installation in our workshop. All required components and fitting materials are included. We need your vehicle for three working days to allow the adhesive, silicone and sealed joints to dry. Please bring your Mercedes-Benz freshly washed and completely dry, so the roof only needs degreasing before installation.

Technical note: The module voltages listed below, Uoc at 34.50 V and Umpp at 35.00 V, are technically inconsistent. The correct module values must be clarified before carrying out electrical design calculations.

Wiring and installation

This solar system, developed by us for your Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo, is supplied and installed with all required, configured power cables, cable mounts, fixing materials (cable ties, adhesive, silicone), fuses, solar panels and charge controller. You do not need to bring anything except your freshly washed Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo.

Which vehicles and pop-top roofs is the solar system suitable for?

The system is suitable for Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo, Horizon and Activity models in the W447 range, plus the Viano Marco Polo W639 from model year 2004 onwards. It supports electrically operated and manual pop-top roofs, with or without a sliding sunroof.

How much energy does the 125 Wp solar system generate?

The stated maximum daily yield in summer is 500 Wh. Actual output depends on factors including weather, shade and orientation. Whether this covers the fridge and other appliances also depends on your power consumption. The vehicle must be outdoors to generate solar power.

Which batteries does the system charge?

The leisure battery is charged first. Once it reaches a sufficient voltage, the additional StandBy-Charger provides supplementary charging or charge maintenance for the starter and buffer batteries at 3 A.

How can you monitor the solar system on a smartphone?

The Bluetooth app for Apple and Android displays and records information including voltage, current and charging data. It also allows you to adjust the solar charge controller settings. A separate solar display inside the vehicle is not required.

How does the system work in vehicles with MBUX and MBAC?

The system is also suitable for vehicles from model year 2020 onwards with MBUX and MBAC. It operates independently of MBAC. Solar data is displayed in the charge controller app, while the usual vehicle battery displays remain accessible in MBAC.

How does installation affect vehicle height, car washes and roof racks?

The installation measures 4 mm including adhesive and silicone and does not change overall vehicle height. Car washes and underground car parks remain usable. Roof racks, such as those from Thule or Westfalia, can still be fitted. Existing vehicle requirements, height limits and usage instructions continue to apply.

How are the solar panel and cable installed?

The panel is bonded directly to the pop-top roof and its edges are then sealed. The cable passes through one drilled hole in the roof, is routed flexibly through the moving roof section and follows the existing Westfalia LED wiring route into the cabin.

What does installation include, and how should you prepare the vehicle?

The package includes the solar panel, MPPT controller, StandBy-Charger, required wiring, fuses, fixing and sealing materials, and workshop installation. The system is supplied only with installation included. Your vehicle is needed for three working days to allow the materials to dry. Please bring it freshly washed and completely dry.

Which optional additions can complement the system?

A suitably selected lithium battery can increase usable storage capacity. A DC-DC charger supports battery charging while driving. Both additions must match the vehicle and battery configuration and are not included in this package. A 250-watt solar system is another system option.
